National Television Awards: Post Office drama stars honour real-life counterparts

Stars of ITV drama Mr Bates vs the Post Office have honoured their real-life counterparts at the National Television Awards.

The drama, which told the story of the Post Office Horizon IT scandal, won three awards at the ceremony – New Drama, Drama Performance and Impact.

Former sub-postmaster Jo Hamilton spoke on stage, saying there had been “no change” in support since Labour came to power and that “almost all” of her fellow sub-postmasters at the award ceremony had not received full compensation.

The Labour government has recently announced a new independent appeals process system, aimed at helping some sub-postmasters affected by the Horizon IT scandal.
