The front door of a house in Georges Street in the town was set alight shortly before 23:00 GMT on Friday.

A window of the house was also smashed and graffiti daubed outside it.

Police and firefighters were sent to the scene, but the fire had been put out by the time they arrived.

The injured man was inside the house at the time.

“Enquiries are ongoing and the incident is being treated as arson,” Det Sgt McCartan said.

“We are appealing to anyone with any information or anyone with CCTV, dash-cam or mobile footage that could assist the investigation to get in touch.”
