Are house prices in Wales too high?

New figures have revealed the average house price in Wales has risen by 4% year on year to £238,483, according to the Principality Building Society.

The Principality said much of the market strength to date is currently “centred” in south Wales and Bridgend saw the highest annual rise, with house prices rising by 11% in the past year.

Speaking to people in Bridgend, one mother of four said she’s been renting for 15 years as trying to buy somewhere big enough for all of them was “unaffordable”.

While a homeowner in the area described it as “good news” but expressed sympathy for young people trying to get on the property ladder.
