Amlwch Town: Coach who punched linesman gets suspended sentence

A former football manager has been handed a suspended prison sentence after a linesman was punched during a match on Anglesey.

The assault took place in April 2024 during Penrhyndeudraeth FC’s 8-0 win at Amlwch Town FC.

Amlwch’s then-manager, Robert Williams-Jones, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm during the North Wales Coast West Premier League match.

Appearing at Caernarfon Magistrates Court on Monday, Williams-Jones, 43, of Eilian, Llaneilian, near Amlwch, was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months.
