Owain Doull: Welsh rider seeks ‘growth’ with Team Visma move

Owain Doull says he is looking for “how much room for growth” he still has after switching to Team Visma-Lease a Bike for the next two seasons.

The 32-year-old Welsh rider has spent nine years on the World Tour since launching his career with an Olympic team pursuit gold medal on the Rio track in 2016.

He joined Team Sky – later rebranded as Ineos Grenadiers – in 2017 and has spent the past four years riding for EF Education–EasyPost.

Doull joins a Team Visma-Lease a Bike squad which boasts two-time Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard and one-day specialist Wout van Aert, as well as rising British sprinter Matthew Brennan.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity I’m getting here with one of the best teams in the world,” said Doull.

“I’m already highly motivated when I think about next season. I’m looking forward to supporting Matthew Brennan in the flat sprints, playing a role in his lead-out and in the classics.”
