A man charged in connection with an incident in which a police officer sustained a serious hand injury has been remanded in custody in his absence after refusing to leave his cell.
Adam McMonagle, 31, of Duncreggan Road in Londonderry, was charged with assaulting police and non-fatal strangulation of a female on Saturday.
He was also charged with assaulting the woman, disorderly behaviour in Altnagelvin Hospital on Sunday, resisting and assaulting police and criminal damage.
There was no bail application on behalf of the defendant at Londonderry Magistrates’ Court on Monday and he was remanded in custody to appear again on 18 December.
