Man dies after motorbike crash in Carrickfergus

A man has died after a motorbike crash in County Antrim on Wednesday.

He has been named as 52-year-old Philip McMeekan from Comber, County Down.

Police received a report at about 19:25 BST of a crash on the Shore Road in Carrickfergus involving a Triumph Rocket motorcycle.

Officers attended, alongside other emergency services, but McMeekan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Shore Road, which was closed, has now reopened.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage to come forward.
