Crossnacreevy: Two people dead after workplace incident near rural road

Two people have died following what’s been described as a workplace incident at a road in County Down, BBC News NI understands.

Emergency services are in attendance at the scene on the Ballygowan Road in Crossnacreevy.

It happened at about 10:45 BST on Friday.

Three ambulances and two hazard response teams were sent but no one was taken from the scene.

Northern Ireland’s Health and Safety Executive (HSENI) said they were “aware of an incident at a workplace” in the area and inspectors were on-site making enquiries.

“We are currently liaising with the emergency services and other relevant agencies,” it added.

Police have said that the Ballygowan Road is closed and motorists are advised to take another route.
