Man, 25, hurt in ‘serious assault’ at Dalbeattie Civic Day

A 25-year-old man has been treated in hospital following a serious assault at a town’s gala day.

The man was hurt in Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Galloway, on Saturday – the day of the town’s annual Civic Day.

Police said they were called to a report of a disturbance at Colliston Park at about 22:40.

PC Jordan Jamieson appealed for information from anyone who witnessed the incident.

“Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and how the victim came to his injuries,” he said.

“This happened during the Dalbeattie Civic Day so we’re aware the area was busy with a lot of people who may have witnessed what happened.

“We are appealing to anyone who saw anything which may be able to assist our investigation to contact us.

“In addition, anyone who has footage on their mobile phone which may have captured the disturbance is asked to get in touch, external.”
