Adams has scored six tries in his eight domestic appearances this season for Cardiff – who are currently sixth in the URC table.

Discussing Adams’ new contract, head coach Corniel van Zyl said: “Everyone at Cardiff is really pleased that Josh has committed his future to the club.

“It is such a privilege to have a player of his ability and experience staying on.”

He added: “The biggest thing about Josh is his drive to succeed from himself, his family and Cardiff. He brings that to the team every day, leading the players, giving them advice and just being an awesome team-mate.

“It is an absolute pleasure to work with Josh and see the impact he has on the group around him.”
