This was the moment a man escaped from police custody, shouting: “I’m not going to jail.”
Dylan Harrison, 33, of Maesglas Crescent in Newport, was taken to Ystrad Mynach police station on 28 September in a police van.
As he was taken out of the vehicle at the police compound, he ran off.
Police bodyworn cameras captured his escape, barefoot, in shorts and a t-shirt.
Despite still being handcuffed, Harrison managed to jump onto another police van, shouting at the officers in pursuit: “I’m not going to jail. I’ve done nothing wrong.”
From the roof of the van, he scaled a high wall before dropping into a neighbouring garden.
But he was detained shortly afterwards, after injuring his back in the fall.
At Newport Crown Court on 26 November, he was jailed for six months for escaping from lawful custody.
Harrison was also sentenced to one month in prison, concurrently, for criminal damage to the windscreen of the police van.
