Gavin and Stacey star Melanie Walters has said her character’s omelette obsession was “sort of created” by the audience.

The final episode of the show, which first aired in 2007, is back on Christmas Day for its final episode.

The actress said of the long running egg gag, in which she repeatedly offers guests omelettes: “That was never written in as a thing. People sort of picked up on that, you know.

“And people picked up on the fishing trip. That’s what I love about Gavin and Stacey. The audience have sort of created it as well.”
