Wrexham: Steven Fletcher ‘priceless’ as Phil Parkinson faces striker calls

Phil Parkinson has described Steven Fletcher’s influence at Wrexham as “priceless” after the striker’s matchwinner against Huddersfield Town in midweek.

The Scot, 37, scored the only goal of the game at the John Smith’s Stadium a minute after coming off the bench to secure victory for Wrexham.

It means six of Fletcher’s seven goals this season have been as a substitute, and Parkinson says the experienced frontman has the “fear factor” about him.

“It’s absolutely priceless for us, it’s a key moment in the game. He’s done it time and time again,” Parkinson told BBC Sport Wales.

“He’s really got the fear factor and everybody respects what he’s done in the game.

“It’s not just about the moments, it’s about his contribution before the game, at half-time, on the training pitch during the week. It was a great moment for him and for us.”
