Saracens scrum-half Ivan van Zyl has signed a new “long-term” contract with the Premiership club.

The 29-year-old South African has made 93 appearances since moving to StoneX Stadium from Bulls in 2021.

He was part of the league-title winning team of 2022-23, scoring a try in the final against Sale Sharks at Twickenham.

“As a family there is nowhere else we would want to be than here,” he said. “This is home for us away from South Africa and I am grateful to extend my time with Sarries.

“It’s been an honour to captain the side at points this season and I look forward to continuing to give my all in a Saracens shirt.”

The north London club are currently fifth in the Premiership table, trailing fourth-placed Leicester Tigers by one point, and Van Zyl has featured in all 11 league games this season.

He has six international caps for the Springboks.
