A 61-year-old woman has been killed in a crash with a van in Aberdeenshire.

The woman died at the scene of the incident at about 17:00 on Tuesday, on the A98 near Craigmaud.

She was driving an Audi Q5 car that collided with a Ford Transit van. The three men in the van were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The road was closed for ten hours to allow investigators to examine the scene.

Police Scotland appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Sgt Dave Cooper said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the lady who tragically lost her life in this collision.

“Our inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing.”
