Members of the public have been asked to avoid the Ward Park area of Bangor, County Down, due to the discovery of a suspected historic munition.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) say they are “working to assess the object at this time”.

“We appreciate this may cause some disruption, however keeping people safe is paramount and we will not take any risks,” the PSNI said.

“We thank those who may be affected for their patience, as we continue to work to keep people safe.”
