Wales v Iceland: Golden horn makes Nations League football debut

Could this be Welsh football’s newest lucky charm?

The carnyx is a 12ft (3.66m) golden horn, which was played for the first time before the Nations League match against Iceland.

The instruments were originally used by ancient Celts between 200 BCE and 200 CE to signal a battle was ahead.

And on Tuesday it may have played its part when it was sounded on the pitch at the Cardiff City Stadium before the 4-1 victory that saw Wales promoted to the top division.
