An unusual type of circular cloud formation has been spotted over parts of north east Scotland.
Weather enthusiasts captured images of the fallstreak hole, also known as a hole-punch cloud, over areas including Fochabers, Auchleven, Turriff and Kingston.
The formations appear as large circular gaps in layers of cloud where water droplets are supercooled below 0C (32F) but have not yet frozen.
According to the Met Office, aircraft passing through this cloud layer can cause air to expand and cool as it moves over the wings or propellers.
