Tom Pearson: Northampton back row signs new contract with Prem champions

Back-rower Tom Pearson has signed a new contract with Prem title holders Northampton Saints.

The 26-year-old has helped Saints clinch two domestic crowns in his three years at with the club, starting in their final victories against Exeter last season and Bath in 2024.

He has featured more than 60 times for the East Midlands side since since moving to DPD Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens in the summer of 2023 after his former club London Irish went out of business.

Pearson earned his solitary England cap in the months before he started at Northampton, although he has featured for the second string national side in each of the past two campaigns.

The flanker, whose new contract ties him to Northampton beyond this season, said his international aspirations were part of what convinced him to stay with Saints.

“Getting back into the England set-up remains a huge motivation for me,” he told the club website., external

“I feel like I’ve got unfinished business there and it’s something I’m determined to push for again this season.

“I’ve developed so much during my time here, whether that’s my all-round game, my set piece work, or my attacking game – and a huge amount of credit for that has to go to the coaches.

“They’re all incredibly invested in helping players improve, not just for what they can achieve with Saints but also in terms of their wider ambitions.”
