Two teenagers killed in Rushyford motorbike crash near Newton Aycliffe

Two teenagers have died after the motorbike they were on crashed, police have said.

Durham Police said it happened on Middridge Road close to the Rushyford roundabout near Newton Aycliffe at about noon on Friday.

A force spokeswoman said it was “believed” the pair, who a local councillor said were aged 13 and 17, had been travelling on the same bike, with one pronounced dead at the scene and the other in hospital.

“Their families have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers,” the force spokeswoman added.
