Fire and ambulance crews were called to the Calder Court flats on Friday morning

A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fire in a flat at a tower block in Coatbridge.

Three people were treated for smoke inhalation following the blaze at Calder Court in Whifflet, which was reported at about 06:50 on Friday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said crews in 11 fire engines and one height vehicle worked to extinguish the blaze.

The teenager is due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Monday.
