Security guard hurt in Manchester synagogue attack discharged

A security guard injured in the Manchester synagogue attack has been released from hospital.

The man, named only as Bernard, was struck by the car driven by Jihad Al-Shamie, 35, in his knife assault on Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue on 2 October.

Greater Manchester Police said the contracted security guard was discharged earlier.

It comes three days after Yoni Finlay, 39, who was hit by a police bullet while helping to barricade the doors of the building, was also released.

Melvin Cravitz, 66, and Adrian Daulby, 53, were killed in the attack, which happened on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

Mr Daulby also suffered a gunshot wound after armed police officers responded to the incident and shot Al-Shamie dead.

Andrew Franks was stabbed by Al-Shamie while helping provide security outside the synagogue.

The synagogue reopened for the first time since the attack earlier this week.
