Residents of a street in north Belfast have been able to return to their homes after a security alert ended after two “BB-style guns” were found.

Eia Street, which is off the Antrim Road, was closed at its junction with Brookhill Avenue on Monday afternoon after police received a report that a suspicious object had been discovered in the area.

Ammunition technical officers (ATO) attended the scene and found the two BB-style guns which they took away for further examination.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
