Scotland set sights on unbeaten Euro 2025 qualifying campaign

Lisa Evans is urging Scotland to continue a “ruthless” streak as they chase a place at Euro 2025 and promotion to the A division of the Nations League.

The Scots lead Group B2 going into their final double-header away to Slovakia and at home to Serbia.

Involvement in the play-offs for the next European Championship is already assured, while staying in top spot would seal a move up in the Nations League.

“We want to finish unbeaten,” said winger Evans, who has just agreed a return to Glasgow City.

“We ended the last camp very strongly against Israel and it’s a point we made ourselves to be more ruthless in both boxes, create more chances and score more goals.

“I’m hoping that continues in both of these games.”

Scotland beat Israel 4-1 and 5-0 at the tail end of last season, taking them to 10 points from their four outings – ahead of Serbia on goal difference.

Friday’s opponents Slovakia proved stubborn opposition at Hampden in April, with Sophie Howard heading in the only goal.

However, Evans believes the squad has “come on leaps and bounds” under head coach Pedro Martinez Losa.

“We’ve had more time to get the philosophy right, the principles right,” explained the 32-year-old.

Scotland made their tournament debut at Euro 2017 but missed out last time and have not been at a major finals since the 2019 World Cup.

Evans, who played at both of those competitions, revealed she was cheering on the men’s team at one Euro 2024 match.

“It was unbelievable being part of the Tartan Army and seeing things from that perspective, just so enjoyable,” she said of her experience in Germany.

“It gives me even more motivation to get back to a major tournament.”
