Pedestrian, 83, dies after being struck by van

A woman has died after she was struck by a van in Dundee.

Emergency service were called but the 83-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene in Broughty Ferry on Saturday afternoon.

Police said the incident, which happened on Christian Road at about 17:25, involved a silver Ford Transit.

No-one else was injured and the dead woman’s relatives have been informed. The road was closed for about six hours for investigation work but has now reopened.

Sgt David Farr of Police Scotland, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the woman who died at this extremely difficult time.

“Our investigation into the crash is ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened to contact officers.

“I’d also ask that those with private CCTV or dash-cam footage review this to see if it has captured anything of significance.”
