Wales earned promotion to the highest level of Nation’s League football having secured top spot in League B Group 4 with a 4-1 win over Iceland in Cardiff in November 2024.
They have not played an international match at the home of Welsh rugby since 2018 and have a strong record at the 33,000-capacity Cardiff City Stadium.
They have lost only once in regular play in their past 14 all-competition games at the capital city’s second largest venue, though suffered shoot-out qualifying defeats against Poland in March 2024 and against Bosnia and Herzegovina last month.
Both Bellamy and his players have frequently praised the atmosphere at the ground, which was opened in 2009 to replace Ninian Park.
Mooney has previously underlined that sentiment saying, “our fans, our players, the FAW is really happy playing in Cardiff City Stadium”.
However, the chief executive has also said that the FAW will engage with fans about what games can be held at Principality Stadium, which could include friendlies against high-profile countries or Euro qualifying games to be played between March and November 2027.
Mooney has also raised the prospect of Wales’ men following the women’s side in staging a game at Wrexham in the future.
However, the decision to stick with Cardiff City Stadium for the Nation’s League campaign means the ground currently hosting League One football could be graced by Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland and Portuguese legend Cristano Ronaldo later this year.
