Watch: When Garfield Sobers hit six sixes in one over

It was the over that stunned world cricket.

Sir Garfield Sobers became the first player to hit six sixes in an over in a first-class match, at St Helen’s in Swansea, whilst playing for Nottinghamshire in 1968.

Speaking after the game he said: “I don’t concentrate on records. Only with the last ball of the over I thought, well if I’ve hit five I may as well try for the other one.”

The legendary former West Indies all-rounder, regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time, has died aged 89. He played 93 Tests between 1954 and 1974, scored 8,032 runs and took 235 wickets.
