Sciver-Brunt is crucial to England’s hopes at the home World Cup – for her playing ability, leadership and the balance she gives to the side as an all-rounder.

England have maintained throughout they are not concerned and are merely taking a cautious approach with her recovery. They still hope she will play a full part in the World Cup.

Sciver-Brunt suffered the injury, described as a “minor tear”, playing for Blaze on 29 April and was initially only ruled out of the three one-day internationals against New Zealand.

A further scan on 18 May ruled her out of the T20s against the White Ferns and India because it was deemed the issue required a “longer period of rehabilitation”.

After the India series concludes on Tuesday, England have warm-ups against Australia and India on 8 and 10 June respectively.

“All of the plans that we’ve been putting together to get me back on track is ending with that first game in mind,” Sciver-Brunt said.

“We’ve got a couple of warm-up games beforehand to practice my skills in as well.

“It’s going to plan thus far.”
