Gardaí (Irish police) said the incident happened in Main Street in Cavan town shortly before midnight.
A 17 year-old boy has been arrested and is being held at a Garda station.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone who was in Main Street between 23:00 on Friday and midnight to contact them if they have any information about what happened.
