A man has died after getting into difficulty in the water off the north-east Essex coast.
He was brought ashore at Frinton-on-Sea but pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Police and paramedics were called to the beach, near to The Esplanade, at about 14:00 BST.
The man becomes the fourth casualty at sea in Essex in just over a week, after three people died following an incident in West Mersea on 22 July.
“His family have been informed and are being supported. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time,” an Essex Police spokesman said.
“Emergency service personnel remain at the scene and our response is continuing.”
People have been asked to avoid the area while crews carry out their inquiries.
