European nations have agreed to boycott the World Cup if Gianni Infantino goes ahead with selling off part of the tournament to private investors.
The agreement at an emergency UEFA meeting comes two days after we revealed there was a plan to withdraw from FIFA’s showpiece tournaments in protest.
FIFA has plans to receive the first financing in less than 100 days from private investors in an accelerated launch of its new venture, we revealed earlier.
There has been fury, with UEFA and several of its members leading the way, that FIFA head Gianni Infantino has been secretly working on partly selling off the money-making parts of the governing body to external investors.
European nations had been discussing boycotting the World Cup if Infantino pushes ahead with the plans.
