Man, 59, dies after rush-hour motorbike crash

A man has died after he was involved in a crash on his motorbike in South Ayrshire.

Brian McGill, 59, from Dailly, was critically injured on the B741 near Hamilton Bridge, Crosshill, at about 16:55 on Friday.

Mr McGill, who was riding a KTM 1290 Superduke R20, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for almost seven hours to allow investigators to carry out inquiries.

Sgt Nick Twigg said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr McGill, and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

“We are appealing to anyone who saw the motorbike in the area prior to the crash or witnessed the crash itself to contact us.”

He also urged anyone with relevant dashcam or helmet camera footage to get in touch.
