Man, 49, dies in three-car crash in Ayrshire

A 49-year-old man has died in a three-car crash in Ayrshire.

It happened at about 16:30 on Thursday on the A713 Ayr to Castle Douglas road, near the junction with the B742.

It involved a Tesla Model 3, a Vauxhall Agila and a Audi Q4.

The 49-year-old driver of the Tesla was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he later died.

The female driver of the Audi was taken to Ayr Hospital for treatment but later discharged.

The driver and passenger in the Vauxhall did not require medical treatment.

The road reopened at about 02:00 on Friday.

Sgt Gordon Stewart of the road policing unit said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.”

He urged anyone with information to contact police, external.
