M8 section reopens after raw sewage flooding

It posted on social media, external: “The off-slip has now reopened at Junction 25A to Braehead.

“The contaminated water has now been cleared from the carriageway and traffic is able to pass.”

Scottish Water earlier said it was actively dealing with a burst sewer main which had caused “localised flooding”.

In a statement on its website, it said: “Our operatives have isolated this main to prevent any further flooding of the roadway and surrounding area.”

On social media shoppers who had visited Braehead said the smell was so strong that they noticed it from within the shopping centre’s car park.
