Lilah Fear & Lewis Gibson: GB skaters win Grand Prix Final bronze

Skaters Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson have claimed Britain’s first-ever medal at the ISU Grand Prix Final with ice dance bronze in Grenoble, France.

The event features the top six teams in each discipline based on their performances throughout the series, with the Britons securing their place thanks to wins at Skate America and the Finlandia Trophy earlier in the season.

The two-time European silver medallists finished with an overall score of 205.18 from their rhythm dance and free dance elements.

Reigning world champions Madison Chock and Evan Bates from the United States took gold with 219.85 ahead of Italy’s European champions Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri who finished on 206.11.

“It is such an honour to be the first British GP Final medallists, and we are so proud to represent Great Britain,” the pair said.

“It’s amazing to continue the tradition of British ice dance – there are so many legends that have come before us and we are excited to lead the new generation.”

Fear, 25, and Gibson, 30, are preparing for the European Championships in Tallinn, Estonia in late January with the Worlds in Boston to follow in March.
