Hundreds take the plunge at festive sea dip in Lowestoft

Aerial pictures showed a crowd of people running into the sea at one of the few Christmas Day dips to go ahead.

Organisers of the swim in Lowestoft, Suffolk said they had worked with coastguards, lifeguards and St John Ambulance to put on the event, despite several others being cancelled due to rough conditions.

Several swims planned for Boxing Day have been called off, including Cromer, Sea Palling and Mundesley in Norfolk, and Aldeburgh in Suffolk.
