Thick smoke was seen emerging from Methil Harbour

A number of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) have been destroyed after a major blaze broke out at Methil Harbour in Fife.

Emergency services were alerted at about 09:20 and seven fire crews were dispatched to the scene.

It is understood the blaze spread to a number of HGVs.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service warned of heavy smoke in the area and urged the public to avoid the harbour.

Police later confirmed the fire had been contained and there were no reported injuries.

Local residents had been advised to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution.

Harbour View and South Street were closed for a short time but have since been reopened.
