Louis Moult’s strike all but sealed Dundee United’s win

Dundee United moved seven points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship with a commanding win at Morton.

Ross Docherty’s header gave United the advantage and Glenn Middleton soon struck from close range after getting the break of the ball off Tony Watt.

Louis Moult tapped in from close range following Craig Sibbald’s mis-hit shot and Watt capitalised on Jack Baird’s error to run in the visitors’ fourth.

Robbie Muirhead reacted well in the penalty area to net Morton’s reply.

With four more second-tier games on Saturday, Raith Rovers can move back to within four points of United if they win at home to Partick Thistle.

Morton, who are sixth, trail Dunfermline by a point while Airdrieonians occupy the final promotion play-off place with a six-point advantage over the Pars.
