George Dobson: Wrexham will ‘give it a good go’ in push for promotion, says midfielder

Manager Phil Parkinson said Wrexham’s players are “chomping at the bit” prior to the resumption of the EFL season following the international break.

Although Wrexham are very much in the Championship play-off mix, Dobson insists the squad have not given much thought to the possibility of playing in English football’s top-flight next season.

“We don’t really talk about the Premier League to be fair,” Dobson added.

“Obviously people talk in terms of we watch Premier League football and we’ll watch the other games in our league that are on.

“We’re just trying to give ourselves the best possible opportunity to have the chance to get in there and then that’s all we can do and it starts Friday.”

Wrexham travel to West Bromwich Albion on Friday, 3 April (15:00 BST) before facing FA Cup quarter finalists Southampton at the Stok Cae Ras next Tuesday.

Dobson joined Wrexham during the 2024 summer transfer window after leaving Charlton Athletic, where he had been captain.

He had been expected to complete a move to Hungarian club Fehervar but he pulled out due to personal circumstances and instead linked up with his former Sunderland boss Parkinson in north Wales.
