A fire at a former factory building in Perth is being treated as deliberate, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to the site of the former ABP food processing plant shortly after midnight.

Residents nearby were warned to keep windows and doors shut while the fire was being extinguished.

Fire crews were at the scene for around five hours.

Police closed off a number of roads, with Crieff Road being reopened shortly afterwards.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Strathtay Road at the junction with Newhouse Road remains closed.

“Those living locally are asked to keep windows and doors closed.

“The fire is being treated as wilful and inquiries are ongoing.”
