Dozens injured, two seriously, after high speed train crash in Slovakia | World News

Two fast trains have crashed head on in Slovakia leaving dozens of people injured, two of them in a critical condition.

The trains collided in the small town of Roznava, in the east of the country, shortly after 8am this morning, according to Slovak Railways.

Police estimated 80 passengers were on board and an investigation into this crash has been launched.

Interior minister, Matus Sutaj Estok, said two passengers were in critical condition and injuries to the others were not serious.

He suggested that human error may be to blame.

Firefighters are also pictured standing next to one carriage that has swerved off of the track, with the carriage behind it still attached.

In a statement, Slovak Railways said: “At the moment, the priority is the rescue and evacuation of our passengers and employees.”
