A D-Day veteran told Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky that he is “the saviour of the people” when they met at a ceremony in France on Thursday.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau introduced the World War Two survivor to Mr Zelensky. They hugged and posed for a picture together while the watching audience applauded.
World leaders gathered in Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings at Omaha Beach in Normandy.
