County Tyrone: Arson attack on house in Coalisland

One person has been taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation following an arson attack in Coalisland, in County Tyrone.

Police said they received a report of a house fire in Ballynakilly Road at about 01:40 BST on Saturday.

They added that officers attended the incident alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, and the fire was extinguished.

Police said “all those inside the property were able to get out, and one person was taken onward to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation”.

Damage was caused to the living room.

Det Insp Ryan of the Police Service of Northern Ireland said it is believed the fire was “started deliberately” and it is being “treated as arson with intent to endanger life”.

Police said enquiries are ongoing to establish the “circumstances of the fire” and they have appealed to anyone “with CCTV or other footage that could assist with the investigation” to contact them.
