A police cordon has been put in place and Heol Trelai in Caerau has been closed in both directions between Caerau Lane and Church Road following the callout at 00:30 BST.

South Wales Police believe three people were struck, with one suffering injuries that “may be life changing”.

“We appreciate the public’s patience as we work to gather more information and progress with our inquiries,” said the force in a Facebook post, and provided no further details after being contacted by BBC Wales.
