Cambridgeshire man hopes to be crowned Britain’s fittest farmer

A farmer said he hoped to be crowned the fittest in Britain at an annual competition.

David Wheatley, an arable farmer from Wisbech St Mary in Cambridgeshire, was inspired to enter this year’s Britain’s Fittest Farmer after watching the 2025 contest.

He said he did not come from a fitness background, but started running after a fire at his farm in 2019 affected his mental health.

He will be competing in the qualifying rounds of the competition at Lincolnshire Showground on 17 June.
