Hull KR and Great Britain legend Brian Lockwood has died at the age of 78.
Lockwood started his career with hometown club Castleford and won the Challenge Cup with them in 1969 and 1970 before winning the World Cup with Great Britain in 1972.
He joined the Robins in 1978 and won the Lance Todd Trophy for his man of the match performance in their Challenge Cup victory over city rivals Hull FC in 1980.
“He was in regular contact with the club until very recently, and his presence will be missed by all who knew him,” Hull KR owner Neil Hudgell told the club website., external
“We send our love and condolences to his family and many close friends.”
Lockwood, who played as a forward, was the cousin of fellow Hull KR Challenge Cup winner Roger Millward.
