Arrest after woman dies from injuries in Hamilton

A 49-year-old woman has been arrested for assault after the death of a woman at a house in South Lanarkshire.

Officers were called to reports of the 78-year-old being seriously injured in Gilmour Drive, Hamilton, at about 20:25 on Wednesday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police Scotland said the death was being treated as unexplained and a post mortem would be carried out.

A force spokesperson added: “Officers remain at the scene and anyone with any concerns can approach these officers. Inquiries are ongoing.”
