Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is on the rise in the United States, with roughly 36 million adults estimated to have the condition. As more people develop the disease, researchers from the University of Missouri School of Medicine and NextGen Precision Health Building are studying possible treatments and have identified several genes that may be potential therapeutic targets.
