Cheap travel to France by ferry as P&O cuts prices if you book this month

Travel can be expensive, but with many looking to put a date in the diary for a holiday to look forward to, there’s a way to save if you book soon.

Those looking for short breaks or holidays with minimum travelling could consider taking the ferry to France for their next 2024 trip.

The journey from Dover to Calais can take as little as an hour and a half, which means more time practising your French, and less time travelling.

P&O Ferries have launched an offer to get 20 percent off travel from Dover to Calais, if you book by February 29.

There’s plenty of choice on dates, as you can book for anytime between now and December 15, as long as you’re organised enough to plan it in the next few weeks.

One of the main perks of travelling by ferry is that you can take as much luggage as you like, as you’re not restricted by plane or train requirements and can keep everything safely stowed away in your car.

With one ticket, up to nine passengers can travel in the car, and it’s pretty handy for families with young children too, making it easier to get from A to B.

Ferry travellers can make the most of the destination, Calais, which in itself has plenty to do, including historical sights like the Eglise Notre-Dame and l’Hotel de Ville de Calais.

There are also plenty of culinary delights on offer, from Friday and Saturday street markets to several Michelin-starred restaurants.

If it’s your first time to France, you could sample the famous wines, which include Champagne, Chablis and Bordeaux, or venture out and put your tastebuds to the test with the delicacy of escargot.

Travel to Calais also offers the opportunity to travel to other parts of France, and explore Lille, Normandy or the coastal resort city of Boulogne-sur-Mer, or on a longer trip you could road trip to the South of France and enjoy sun, sea and sand in Nice or Saint Tropez.
