Wrexham news: Midfielder Elliot Lee leaves Red Dragons by mutual consent

Lee featured prominently as Wrexham gained three successive promotions from the National League to the Championship.

He was named in the 2022-23 National League team of the year as Wrexham clinched the fifth-tier title with a record 111 points.

The midfielder was listed in the League Two team of the season and the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) team of the year in the following campaign as Wrexham sealed automatic promotion into League One.

The West Ham United academy product’s influence waned following Wrexham’s promotion into the Championship last year.

Lee’s three appearances for the club last season all came in the EFL Cup, and he went on to join Doncaster Rovers on loan where he featured 18 times in League One.

The Durham-born player has not featured in any of Wrexham’s four matchday squads across all competitions so far this season and is now a free agent.

He has reportedly attracted interest from League One side Sheffield Wednesday.
